Many early-career colleagues at CERN tell us they know their experience is valuable outside academia, but they sometimes struggle to express it in a way that resonates with industry recruiters and hiring managers.
To help address this, we launched the CERN Alumni Glossary — a collection of short, authentic descriptions of CERN work written as they typically appear in academic CVs. The goal is to help make the scale, responsibility, and transferable skills behind CERN work clearer to employers outside research.

CERN language: " Building up an event selection for charge exchange reaction using various EPOS tunes (1.99 and LHC) and Pythia."
Industry language: "Setting up and optimising a data processing pipeline using synthetic data"
